New birthing center hospital helps women and children.

In Guatemala, many women give birth in their homes. And if complications arise, there isn’t always a caregiver available to help. That’s why Buy One Build One is so proud to have contributed to the new birthing center hospital in Escuintla, near Guatemala City.

Buy One Build One was able to provide the funding needed to create the birthing center hospital that currently serves anyone in need. The hospital has provided safe, sanitary, and necessary medical care for women who otherwise would have to give birth in their homes without the vital help needed should something go awry.

We were helping a partner in Guatemala build homes for families who have children with disabilities. The homes were especially needed because the orphanage our friend runs for individuals with special needs had reached capacity. Unfortunately, the disabilities that many of the children had were a result of inadequate medical care or unsanitary conditions when their mothers were giving birth. But fortunately, our friend was given a plot of land next to the city landfill in Guatemala City to construct a hospital to help reduce these risks.

“The line of women waiting to give birth grows every day, and we expect that we may eventually need to expand. But for now we are rejoicing in what God is doing and enjoying the ride!”
