There is something special about returning to a place and being remembered.

For many volunteers serving in Guatemala, one of the most meaningful parts of the trip had nothing to do with construction projects or work sites. It was reconnecting with the children they had met on previous visits.

As team members arrived in the community, familiar faces began to appear. Children who had once been small enough to hold hands with were now noticeably taller. Smiles spread across faces as hugs were exchanged and memories resurfaced.

Despite difficult living conditions and limited resources, the joy these children demonstrate is remarkable. Their laughter fills the streets, and their excitement is contagious. For volunteers, these relationships are often the moments that leave the deepest impression.

And for many who serve in Guatemala, those relationships are exactly what keep bringing them back.
