Abraham Balderrama (38) and Epifanía Escobar (39) of Cochabamba are a couple whose lives reflect unwavering love, perseverance, and faith. Together they are raising three children—Fernando (19), Josué (15), and Lizeth (11)—while walking a road marked by both hardship and hope.
For many years, Abraham carried the responsibility of providing for his family through long, grueling days in construction. His dream was simple but profound: to one day build a home of his own.
In 2010, after years of saving, Abraham and Epifanía finally purchased a modest plot of land—the first step toward their dream. But life soon brought unexpected trials. One of their children suffered recurring health problems, and the family’s hard-earned savings had to be redirected to cover medical care. Their dream of building a home was forced to wait.
Then came the COVID-19 pandemic. Both Abraham and Epifanía became gravely ill, their lives hanging in the balance. It was a dark and frightening time, but through faith and the support of others, they recovered. The aid they received during this season became a turning point, giving them the opportunity to finally begin building the home they had long envisioned.
Today, after years of renting and uncertainty, the Balderrama family lives in a house of their own—a place of safety, dignity, and stability. Their home stands not only as a shelter, but as a lasting symbol of hope, perseverance, and God’s provision.
Rooted in their community and actively involved in their local church, Abraham, Epifanía, and their children continue their journey with hearts full of gratitude and faith.
