The Perez Family | Building Hope Through Resilience

At the end of November, Barry visited the Perez family alongside Fernando in their community near Tecpán. At the time, the family was living with extended relatives, sharing a small space while working together to support one another through the challenges of daily life.

At the center of their story is their son, Sebastian, who is now five years old. Sebastian was born with significant medical needs—he is blind, deaf, unable to speak, and cannot eat in a typical manner. He requires constant, attentive care and depends entirely on his family for every aspect of his daily life.

Despite these challenges, Sebastian is surrounded by deep love and dedication. His parents provide round-the-clock care, meeting his complex needs with patience, strength, and compassion. The responsibility is both physically and emotionally demanding, yet their commitment to their son never wavers.

In caring for Sebastian, the Perez family has exhausted their financial resources. Everything they have has gone toward medical treatments, specialized care, and daily needs. These sacrifices have made it difficult to maintain stability in other areas of life, adding to the weight they carry each day.

Today, however, their situation has changed in a meaningful way. The family now lives in a safe, secure home of their own—providing stability, dignity, and a more suitable environment for Sebastian’s care. This new space offers the room and safety they desperately needed, allowing them to better focus on his well-being.

The Perez family continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience and unwavering love. With the foundation of a stable home, they are better equipped to care for Sebastian and face the future with renewed hope.
